Nunzio Fisichella
Catania, 1968Lives and works in Catania

Nunzio Fisichella has a solitary artistic path, he is self-taught but observes the masters of the past as reference points but also as starting point to develop his own autonomous language, made of unique materials and chromaticity: in his works there is lava sand, also called ash of Etna, a continuous recall to his land, and natural pigments that require long times to be transformed and then live forever on canvas.
Some of his works seem to look at land art trying to transfer nature on jute; but in an attempt to transfer also the fatigue, the accidentality, the chaos and the chance, war and peace, open wounds and old scars and the pauses alternate to proliferate moments of action.
In recent years Fisichella has exhibited his works in several exhibitions related to his territory and in 2024 he was the protagonist of the personal Interval at the Bonajuto Chapel in Catania, curated by Raffaella De Chirico.
